Formed in 2011, NOVUS Residences LLC is the multifamily component of Cafritz Interests and represents a partnership between Conrad Cafritz, former Archstone Senior Vice President Robert Seldin, and veteran property operations expert Melanie Domres. With a primary objective of investing in and helping to bolster walkable communities, NOVUS provides high quality and high value multifamily communities for our residents, our investment partners and for the communities and neighborhoods that we serve. With a specific focus on value creation through property development, acquisition, adaptive reuse, construction management, asset management and property operations, NOVUS is currently pursuing growth opportunities within the Metropolitan Washington, DC area, with an eventual goal of bringing NOVUS quality, style and value to select markets throughout the US.
Prior to establishing NOVUS, Mr. Seldin was the Senior Vice President of Mid-Atlantic Investments for Archstone, the nation’s premier apartment REIT, where he oversaw all development activity from the DC area south to Atlanta. During his 12 year tenure with the firm, Mr. Seldin was directly responsible for the site selection, land acquisition, entitlement, design, development, financing and/or construction of over 8,000 apartment homes representing total investment activity in excess of $2 Billion.
Mr. Seldin’s DC area projects have been frequent award winners, garnering industry recognition as the “Best DC Apartment Community,” “Best Mid-Atlantic Garden Apartment Community,” and “Fastest Maryland Lease-up Pace,” each award serving as testament to the attention to detail that all NOVUS properties will achieve.
